 2022 Preview 


       Charles Henderson finished the 2021 season with a disappointing 2-8 record. Last year Charles Henderson just missed making the playoffs with a fifth place finish in Class 5A region two with a 2-4 region record.

       The defense allowed a team record 372 points last season.

       Charles Henderson was inconsistent offensively last year and they need some improvement if the Trojans want to be competitive. They only averaged 19.4 points a game.

       Charles Henderson struggled on the defensive side of the football last year. The defense found little success in stopping opposing offenses as they gave up an average of 37.2 points a game.

       The Trojans would prefer to forget the past two seasons as they have finished with a 3-16 record. Since 2010, Charles Henderson has gone a combined 71-64. Their 52.6% winning percentage ranks 21st in Class 5A over the past twelve seasons.

       Over the past 25 seasons, Charles Henderson has managed to compile a record of 162-113. Their 59.0% winning percentage ranks 14th in Class 5A and 103rd in the AHSAA.




       The Trojans are led by head coach Quinn Hambrite who is entering his second season at the helm. His team finished with a 2-8 record in his first season at Charles Henderson. The Trojans saw improvement from a 1-8 record the season before coach Hambrite arrived. The Trojans have yet to reach the playoffs under his direction. They have not won a region crown with Coach Hambrite.

       Coach Hambrite's overall record as a head football coach in two season stands at 4-16 (20.0%).

       The Charles Henderson Trojans will play in Class 5A region two during the 2022 season.

       With a little luck and some improvement, the Trojans could find themselves challenging for one of the playoff spots for region two this season. Charles Henderson missed the playoffs the past couple of seasons but hope to return to the post season in 2022.

       The Trojans open the 2022 season on the road against non-region opponent Pike County on Friday, August 19 at Bulldog Stadium. Last year the Pike County Bulldogs finished with an overall record of 0-9 and in eighth place in Class 3A region four. The Bulldogs closed out the regular season with a loss to Abbeville by a score of 37-21.

       Charles Henderson and Pike County have met a total of 41 times on the football field. The Trojans have a 29-12-0 record against the Bulldogs. They last met in 1999 with Pike County winning by a score of 14-12.

       Charles Henderson returns 5A All-State Junior punter Nik Peerson. He was named to the honorable mention team last season.
